This historic event will feature two simultaneous Guinness World Records attempts under one roof. While renowned accordionist Christiaan Ras takes on the Longest Accordion Playing Marathon, I will be pushing the limits of endurance, concentration, and musicianship in my attempt to claim the world title for concertina playing.

A challenge of this magnitude is about much more than playing music. It demands months of preparation, unwavering focus, physical stamina, and a deep love for the instrument. Every minute must comply with the strict Guinness World Records™ guidelines, with performance times, breaks, and procedures carefully monitored and recorded throughout the marathon.

Independent officials from Skinner Time Keepers will oversee the event, ensuring every second is accurately tracked and verified according to Guinness World Records™ standards. With no room for error, every note played becomes part of a carefully documented journey towards a world record.

For me, this is more than a personal goal. It is an opportunity to place the concertina in the international spotlight and celebrate a musical tradition that has brought joy to generations. It is also a chance to show young musicians what can be achieved through dedication, perseverance, and a genuine passion for music.

Spectators will have the unique opportunity to witness the attempt firsthand. They will see the determination, discipline, and endurance required to pursue a world record and experience the atmosphere of a truly historic occasion as two South African musicians strive to write their names into the record books.

The countdown has begun. The preparation is underway. The challenge awaits.

I look forward to sharing this journey with music lovers, supporters, students, friends, and family as I attempt to bring a Guinness World Records™ title home to South Africa.
